THE ONLY THING THAT WE CAN CHANGE IS OUR WAY OF THINKING AT PRESENT

Change is very necessary in life, as not changing can cause many problems as well. The ability to be flexible and adapt goes a long way in making us successful and more fulfilled. In this context, the ability to change our way of thinking is especially instrumental in ensuring that we are growing, learning and adapting to the new circumstances.

The only thing that we can change is our way of thinking at present. We have a choice whether to change our obsolete beliefs or not. Recognizing whether it is for the good or bad depends on our awareness to discern the consequences that will result from continuously dwelling on a particular thought. If we know what will happen eventually, immediately we can decide to change or not to change the position or condition of our thoughts.

This process of changing our thinking becomes even more important and necessary when the thoughts and beliefs that have been instilled in us over the years become outdated, unhealthy or even detrimental to our life. In such cases, it is essential that we recognize the signs of how our minds have adapted over the years, and then take the necessary steps to consciously change our way of thinking.

One of the most important aspects of changing our way of thinking is the awareness. Unless we are conscious of our beliefs and their effects on our lives, it would be very difficult to make a meaningful difference. We must recognize what patterns and behavior are detrimental and then take action to make the necessary changes. Concrete steps need to be taken to ensure that we replace negative beliefs with a more positive and successful belief system.

When we think of our own ability to change, it is also important to consider how our thinking affects our relationships with others. Our thoughts have a strong influence on how we interact with other people and our interactions have a reciprocal effect on them as well.

For instance, if we are dealing with someone who is pessimistic and continuously harbors negative thinking, our interactions will be affected. We can help the person move away from such thinking by consistently offering words of encouragement to make positive changes in their life. Being aware of their existing belief system and making an effort to slowly shift the way they think can help them progress and become more successful over time.

Our ability to consciously change our way of thinking is crucial to our advancement and success. Possessing awareness of our current beliefs, understanding how they affect our thoughts, feelings and behavior, recognizing the need to make changes and taking concrete steps to make such changes are all vital components of this process. When combined with the right attitude and courage to act, we will have no problem making changes that have a positive and lasting effect on our lives.
